"Towards the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, Buenos Aires welcomed millions of European immigrants escaping the hunger caused by war. Our society was enriched by their diverse cultures and changed.
In this new environment, tango, sainete, and filete emerged—three art forms that deeply reflect the porteño spirit. Filete started on carts, and later on trucks and buses, decorated with birds, flowers, ornaments, ribbons, and phrases. These decorated vehicles traveled daily around the city, making it more beautiful and bringing joy. Its essence is about celebrating success through work.
Filete porteño, like tango, is part of our identity. They are like the shape of our shoes, and as we dance, we polish and create filetes with the twists and turns of life."
